The Detroit™ Powertrain integrates three specifically-engineered Detroit components—engine, transmission, and axle—to work together and create a system of efficiency, performance, and reliability. The Detroit™ DD15® engine has been masterfully designed to reach unprecedented levels of performance, fuel economy, and reliability. The Detroit DT12™ transmission, with its automated clutch and computer-controlled shift actuator, gives you access to the power you need, while maintaining the highest possible fuel economy. Precisely-matched Detroit™ tandem 6x2 and 6x4 rear axle ratios deliver power to the pavement with minimum loss.

Detroit DD15 Engine

We've designed the DD15 engine to reduce fuel consumption by integrating it with our fastest-ever tandem axles and smooth-shifting DT12 transmission. The DD15 has been calibrated to cruise at the same road speed at lower RPMs, reducing friction and fuel.

Detroit DT12 Transmission

The DT12 transmission—linking engine to axles in the Powertrain—brings you 12 tightly-spaced speeds. It also features Intelligent Powertrain Management, which uses terrain maps to know the route ahead and create optimal fuel economy. IPM pinpoints the truck's location and looks over a mile ahead to anticipate terrain. IPM will adjust cruise control, pre-select gears, eCoast and brake the engine to maximize efficiency into the road conditions ahead.

Detroit 6x2 or 6x4 Axles

Detroit axles provide optimum efficiency and performance when working with the DD15 engine and DT12 transmission.
